OKM Fusion Professional Plus
W-9 and vendor pack with every quote
Shipped direct from the manufacturer
Vertical Ground Scan and Live Sound come with either Fusion edition. Horizontal Ground Scan and two real-time Live Scan modes are exclusive to Professional Plus, and neither Live Scan mode stores its data for later analysis.
01
Professional Plus adds horizontal scanning and two real-time modes the base Professional does not have
OKM's hardware manual states it plainly: the control unit is a scanning probe that works in vertical or horizontal position, and horizontal is reserved for the Professional Plus version of Fusion. Mount the probe on the telescopic rod assembly and Ground Scan switches to horizontal, scanning four tracks at once through the Multi-Sensor array, at the cost of the integrated SRIS coil, which cannot run in that orientation. Two more modes exist only here. Live Scan, in both a horizontal and a vertical form, gives real-time feedback while you work, and OKM's own manual states each one plainly: it can only be used with the Professional Plus version of Fusion. If your work only ever needs vertical Ground Scan and Live Sound, OKM builds that as the base Professional edition instead. This one is for horizontal coverage and instant feedback.
02
Ground Scan works vertical on both editions, horizontal only on this one
Carry the probe in one hand and the tablet in the other for 3D Ground Scan, vertical, available on both Fusion editions, with the integrated SRIS coil switched on if you want it. Mount that same probe to the telescopic rod assembly and Ground Scan switches to horizontal, a Professional Plus exclusive that scans four tracks at once through the Multi-Sensor array. The SRIS coil cannot run while the probe sits in that horizontal mount. OKM's sensor technology on the control unit is SCMI-15-D. The SRIS coil itself is model SRIS-18K, and OKM's own edition comparison table shows it on both Fusion Professional and Professional Plus, absent only on the entry-level Fusion Light. Live Sound, an acoustic magnetic field mode, runs on both editions too. It flags ferromagnetic metal near the surface before a Ground Scan, or works as a pinpointer while you dig.
03
Live Scan gives real-time feedback, and the data cannot be saved once the screen updates
Live Scan is the headline feature here, and OKM's manual is explicit about what it does and does not do. Horizontal Live Scan, run through the Multi-Sensor array, gives color-coded 2D feedback of the ground while you walk. Vertical Live Scan, called Ultrasound, renders the same real-time picture in a style closer to a medical scan. Both modes exist only on Professional Plus, and OKM's manual states each one plainly: it can only be used with the Professional Plus version of Fusion. Neither mode stores its data for later analysis, a limit OKM does not mention in its own marketing copy or on the product page. Treat Live Scan as a walking survey tool, and Ground Scan as the mode that leaves you a file to open again. OKM's own materials also disagree on what to call this group of modes: the manual and both comparison tables say Live Scan; the product page's headline bullet and OKM's FAQ instead call it Live Stream. We use Live Scan here, since it is the name the manual and both comparison tables agree on.

Included software runs at Professional Edition here, and the tablet has two names on two OKM pages
Professional Plus ships with Visualizer 3D Studio, Professional Edition, the software that turns 1024 values a second of sensor data into a 3D image. The base Fusion Professional ships the Standard Edition instead. Both paid editions include four software licenses, per OKM's own comparison table, so license count is not what separates them. Running that software needs a Windows 10 computer with at least 2 GB RAM, a 1.2 GHz processor, a 1920 by 1080 display, and a graphics card carrying OpenGL 3.3. Professional Plus includes that computer. OKM's product page calls it a Pre-configured Windows Notebook. OKM's own hardware manual calls the identical item a Windows Tablet PC, operated by touchscreen. One computer, two names, from two of OKM's own pages.

IP40 covers dust only, and OKM says the unit is not waterproof
IP40 is OKM's own ingress rating for the control unit, dust protection with no stated water resistance. OKM's manual is direct about what that means in the field: this unit is not weatherproof, and water or condensation can destroy it. It runs between -10°C and 60°C and survives storage between -20°C and 70°C, with humidity from 5 to 75 percent. OKM's general FAQ claims -20°C for its 3D ground scanners as a category, a wider range than this product's own spec sheet supports; we use the product-specific figure here. Moving the unit from a cold place to a warm one brings a real risk: wait for any condensation to evaporate before switching it on.
06
OKM's manual carries a caution its product page does not: what to do if you find something that is not a coin
OKM's manual devotes a full section to unexploded ordnance, since ground in many former conflict areas worldwide still holds buried relics from the two world wars. Its instruction: do not dig or hack at a detected signal. A reddish tint near the surface can mean rust traces. Curved or round shapes, buttons, rings, pegs, or anything resembling ammunition, bullets, shells or fuses should not be touched or moved. Old fuses and explosive residue can turn crystalline over time, and the slightest movement can be enough to set one off. Mark the location, leave the object in place, and call the police. Used properly, OKM states the device itself poses no health hazard: its high-frequency signals are low power by current scientific understanding. The control unit also carries a built-in anti-tampering module that destroys the unit if it is opened without authorization, and there are no parts inside for an owner to service.

Software and licensing
| Included software | Visualizer 3D Studio, Professional Edition. The base Fusion Professional ships with the Standard Edition instead; Professional Edition is Plus-exclusive |
| Software licenses included | 4, the same as the base Fusion Professional. Not a Plus-exclusive differentiator; only the software edition itself differs |
Sensor and coil technology
| Sensor technology | SCMI-15-D |
| Coil technology | SRIS-18K, an integrated inductive search coil. Present on both Fusion Professional and Professional Plus; absent on the entry-level Fusion Light |
| SRIS coil activation | Per the manual, the coil can be activated during Live Sound, 3D Ground Scan (vertical), and Live Scan (Ultrasound / vertical). It cannot be used when the probe is mounted in horizontal orientation for Ground Scan or Live Scan (Multi-Sensor) |
| Multi-Sensor array (horizontal orientation) | Plus-exclusive. Mounting the probe on the telescopic rod in horizontal orientation activates the Multi-Sensor array, which the flyer states scans 4 tracks simultaneously during Ground Scan, at the cost of the SRIS coil being unavailable in that orientation |
Operating modes
| 3D Ground Scan, vertical | Available on both Fusion Professional and Professional Plus. Carry the probe in one hand and the Tablet PC in the other; the integrated SRIS coil can be enabled |
| 3D Ground Scan, horizontal | Plus-exclusive. Requires mounting the probe to the telescopic rod assembly, with the Tablet PC mounted above the handle. Scans 4 tracks at once via the Multi-Sensor array; the SRIS coil cannot be used in this orientation |
| Live Sound (Magnetometer) | Available on both editions. An acoustic magnetic-field mode to detect ferromagnetic metals (iron, cobalt, nickel) near the surface, used to clear an area of surface metal before a Ground Scan or as a pinpointer while digging |
| Live Scan, horizontal (Multi-Sensor) | Plus-exclusive. The manual states this mode "can only be used with the Professional Plus version of Fusion." Real-time, color-coded 2D feedback of the scanned area while walking; the manual states data from this mode cannot be stored for later analysis |
| Live Scan, vertical (Ultrasound) | Plus-exclusive. The manual states this mode "can only be used with the Professional Plus version of Fusion." Real-time feedback rendered in a style resembling an ultrasound image; the manual states data from this mode cannot be stored for later analysis either |
| Naming note | OKM's own materials disagree on what to call the Live Scan modes as a group; some call the same feature "Live Stream" instead. |

Safety and cautions (from the hardware manual)
| Anti-tampering | The device has a built-in anti-tampering module which will destroy the unit if it is improperly opened. There are no end-user-serviceable parts inside |
| Possible health hazards | "If used properly this device normally does not pose any health hazards. According to current scientific knowledge, the high-frequency signals are not harmful to the human body on account of their low power." |
| Condensation | When moving the unit from a cold place to a warmer one, do not operate it until any condensation has evaporated. The unit is not weatherproof and water or condensation can destroy it |
| Magnetic field interference | Avoid strong magnetic fields, such as large electric motors or unshielded loudspeakers. Try to avoid using the equipment within 50 meters (150 ft) of this type of equipment |
| Metallic objects on the operator | Metallic objects on the ground (cans, tin, nails, screws, debris) can produce false scan data. Remove metallic objects from your person (phones, keys, jewelry) before scanning; do not wear steel toe boots |
| Voltage | Use only the approved chargers, batteries and rechargeable batteries included in the scope of delivery |
| Data safety | Data errors can occur if the sender module's range is exceeded, device/battery power is too low, cables are too long, the unit is operated too close to interference-emitting devices, or during atmospheric conditions such as electrical storms and lightning |
| Maintenance, what to avoid | Penetrating water, strong dirt/dust deposits, hard impacts, strong magnetic fields, and high or long-lasting heat. Clean with a dry soft rag; transport in the supplied carrying cases; fully charge batteries before use and fully discharge before recharging |
| Danger of explosion during excavation | The manual carries a dedicated warning (section 1.4): ground in many places worldwide still holds buried relics from the two world wars. It instructs the operator not to dig or hack wildly at a metal signal; to note ground color near the surface (a red or reddish tint indicates rust traces); to treat curved or round finds, buttons, rings or pegs as warning signs; and, for recognizable ammunition, bullets, shells, fuses (rocket, acid or ball) or cartridges, to leave the object in place, not touch it, not take it home, mark the location, and report the find to the police, since old fuses may be triggered by the slightest movement and explosives can crystallize over time into friction-sensitive, sugar-like deposits. Such objects endanger hikers, walkers, farmers, children and animals |
