DJI Matrice 400 and Zenmuse L3 Drone LiDAR Survey System
W-9 and vendor pack with every quote
Shipped direct from the manufacturer
A complete airborne LiDAR survey system on one purchase order. The airframe, the sensor, the mount and the base station, specified so that they work together rather than assembled from three separate orders and hoped for.
What is included
| Component | What it does | List |
|---|---|---|
| DJI Matrice 400 | The airframe. 6 kg payload capacity, 59 minutes of flight, O4 Enterprise transmission. Base configuration. | $10,450 |
| DJI Zenmuse L3 | The sensor. 1535 nm laser to 950 m at 10% reflectivity, dual 100 MP mapping cameras, post-processed POS. | $17,400 |
| Zenmuse L3 single gimbal connector | The mount. The L3 will not attach to the aircraft without it. Supplied as part of this configuration. | Included |
| DJI D-RTK 3 Multifunctional Station | The base station. The L3 accuracy figures are quoted against a position-calibrated D-RTK 3, so it is part of the instrument. | $2,799 |
| Indicative total | Before any structured discount, which is settled on the quote. | $30,649 |
Why these four parts and not any others
The Zenmuse L3 is supported on the Matrice 400 only. It does not fit a Matrice 350 RTK, a Matrice 30 or a Matrice 4 series aircraft, and no adapter changes that. If you already fly a 350 RTK, the sensor that fits it is the Zenmuse L2, and it is the honest recommendation rather than the more expensive one.
The base station is the part people try to remove from the quote, because a D-RTK 2 is already on the shelf. DJI has superseded the D-RTK 2, and the L3's published vertical and horizontal figures were measured against a position-calibrated D-RTK 3. Fly the L3 against the older station and you still get a point cloud. You do not get the accuracy on the specification sheet, and on a survey deliverable that difference is the whole job.
What the system delivers
| Flight altitude | Vertical (RMSE) | Horizontal (RMSE) | Point cloud thickness |
|---|---|---|---|
| 120 m | 3 cm | 4 cm | 1.2 cm at 1σ |
| 300 m | 5 cm | 7.5 cm | 2 cm at 1σ |
DJI measured these in a laboratory environment, on a field with obvious angular features, with the aircraft linked to a position-calibrated D-RTK 3, an Area Route flown at 15 m/s with Calibrate IMU enabled, gimbal pitch at -90 degrees, and DJI Terra post-processing with Optimize Point Cloud Accuracy enabled. Expect field performance outside these figures. Anyone quoting you a single accuracy number without the conditions attached is quoting you a marketing figure.
If you want the L3 on a second or third gimbal position
The connector above is the standard downward mount. Carrying the L3 alongside another payload needs the Matrice 400 Dual Gimbal Connector or Third Gimbal Connector, which are separate lines. Tell us what else has to fly on the same sortie and we will put the right one on the quote.
