OKM Fusion Light
W-9 and vendor pack with every quote
Shipped direct from the manufacturer
OKM builds the Fusion Light around two operating modes: a magnetometer sweep that OKM says experienced users typically run first, and a 3D ground scan for what's underneath. OKM specs the control unit at 700 g and IP40, and rates the battery at about 12 hours.

OKM builds the Fusion Light around two modes, and says experienced users typically clear the ground with the magnetometer first
Two operating modes share one control unit. Magnetometer, OKM's Live Sound mode, sweeps for ferrous metal with acoustic and visual feedback on the paired Android smartphone. OKM says experienced users typically run it first, to clear near-surface metal from the scan field before the deeper mode runs. 3D Ground Scan is that deeper mode. It visualizes underground anomalies and cavities on the smartphone app in real time, using EMSR, electro-magnetic signature reading, the detection principle OKM's manual defines in its introduction. Scan data transfers to the included Windows notebook, where Visualizer 3D Studio Standard Edition builds a more detailed 3D image. One license of that software ships with every Fusion Light. The notebook and the smartphone are part of the kit, not accessories you add later.
02
OKM rates the battery at about 12 hours and the control unit at IP40, which is not waterproof
OKM's own average-value figure puts operating time at about 12 hours on the internal battery. A full recharge takes about 3 hours. The current product page lists a 2600 mAh lithium-ion cell. That figure does not appear in the manual's own control unit table, so treat it as the manufacturer's newest word rather than a settled spec. The control unit carries an IP40 rating and is not sealed against water. OKM's manual explains why that matters: moving the unit from a cold place to a warmer one can cause condensation, and running it before that moisture evaporates can destroy it. Operating temperature is specced at -10°C to 60°C for this model, and OKM's product page and its manual both give that figure. OKM's general FAQ names a colder ceiling for its ground scanners as a category, but it does not name the Fusion Light specifically. Call before you plan on that colder number.
03
OKM's own materials give three different values for the same wireless spec, and we print all three rather than pick one
Bluetooth 5.1 carries the connection, on the 2.402 to 2.480 GHz band, at up to 1 Mbps and roughly 10 meters of range. OKM's own documents disagree with each other on how this figure is labeled: the current product page calls it Maximum Transmitting Power, +8 dBm, while the manual states the identical +8 dBm value under a different row label, "Receiving sensitivity." If wireless range matters to your job, call us before you order.
04
The control unit weighs about 700 grams and measures 800 millimeters, but the full kit is bigger than the wand
OKM specs the control unit at 800 by 65 by 65 millimeters, control unit only, and about 700 grams before the case, the smartphone or the notebook. The full kit runs heavier and larger than the wand alone. OKM's current Delivery Scope lists eight items: the control unit, an Android smartphone with the app pre-installed, a Windows notebook with Visualizer 3D Studio, a USB flash drive carrying the same software, a charger and cable, a travel adapter set, a protector case, and a quick start guide. The manual, dated June 2021, lists six items instead, with no separate flash drive and a "Windows Tablet PC" where the product page says notebook. Call to confirm exactly what ships with your order. Running the desktop software needs a real computer behind it: USB 2.0, at least 250 MB free, 2 GB of RAM, a 1920 by 1080 display, a 1.2 GHz processor, and a 1 GB OpenGL 3.3 graphics card, on Windows 10.
05
OKM's manual carries one instruction that matters more than any spec: never dig at what looks like ordnance
Buried wartime ordnance remains in the ground in many places, and OKM's manual is direct about it. A reddish color near the surface can indicate rust. Curved or round shapes, buttons, rings, pegs, or anything resembling ammunition, bullets or shells, are warning signs. OKM's instruction: leave the object untouched, mark the location, and report the find to the police. Never take it home. Aged explosive fill can crystallize, and crystallized fill can detonate on the slightest movement. This is the rule that matters most in the whole manual, and it has nothing to do with the specs above it.
06
The manual's other cautions cover interference, tampering, the charger you're allowed to use, and what OKM says about health
Stay roughly 50 meters, about 150 feet, from large electric motors or unshielded loudspeakers. Both can interfere with scan data, and so can metal on your own person: phones, keys, jewelry, steel-toe boots. The control unit has a built-in anti-tampering module that destroys the unit if it is opened improperly. OKM states there are no end-user-serviceable parts inside. On chargers, the manual is exact: "Use only approved chargers which are included in the scope of delivery." On health, OKM's own words: "If used properly this device normally does not pose any health hazards. According to current scientific knowledge, the high-frequency signals are not harmful to the human body on account of their low power."

Safety and cautions (from the manual)
| Danger of explosion during excavation | Present, section 1.4. The manual warns that buried wartime ordnance remains in the ground in many places and instructs the operator not to dig or hack at a detected metal signal. It flags a reddish ground color near the surface as a rust indicator, and curved or round shapes (buttons, rings, pegs) or anything resembling ammunition, bullets or shells as warning signs. Its instruction: leave such objects untouched, mark the location, report the find to the police, and never take it home, because aged explosive fill can crystallize and detonate on the slightest movement |
| Possible health hazards | "If used properly this device normally does not pose any health hazards. According to current scientific knowledge, the high-frequency signals are not harmful to the human body on account of their low power" (section 1.2.2) |
| Magnetic interference and surrounding area | The manual advises avoiding operation within approx. 50 m (150 ft) of large electric motors or unshielded loudspeakers, and notes that metallic objects on the operator's person (phones, keys, jewelry, steel-toe boots) can interfere with scan data (section 1.2.3) |
| Weatherproofing and condensation | The unit is not weatherproof; moving it from a cold place to a warmer place can cause condensation, and the manual states this can destroy the unit if operated before it evaporates (section 1.2.3) |
| Charger requirement | "Use only approved chargers which are included in the scope of delivery" (section 1.2.4) |
| Anti-tampering | The control unit has a built-in anti-tampering module that destroys the unit if it is improperly opened. The manual states there are no end-user-serviceable parts inside (section 1.2.1) |
