OKM's own product page marks this exact model discontinued, and names the eXp 7000 Professional Plus as its successor
OKM's own product page for the eXp 6000 Professional Plus carries a banner stating: "This product is no longer manufactured. As successor product we recommend OKM eXp 7000 Professional Plus." The banner appears across every section of that page, alongside a "PREVIOUS PRODUCT" badge. My Surveying Direct's own listing carries no separate discontinuation notice. If your project has already specified this exact configuration, everything below describes the unit accurately. If you are choosing a detector for the first time, call us before you order and we will walk through current stock and how this model compares with what OKM sells today.
02
Four upgrades separate this edition from the base Professional, and none of them are optional add-ons here
OKM's own eXp 6000 editions comparison describes the Professional Plus as strictly additive over the base Professional: nothing is removed, four things are added. The GPS Receiver, a removable cap-mounted module that tags a scan's location, ships only with the Professional Plus edition; OKM's own comparison table marks it absent from the base Professional entirely. Two probes, the Live-Stream Sensor and the Tunnel Sensor, are Professional Plus exclusive as well, each required for one of the two extra operating modes below. The fourth upgrade is the software: this edition ships OKM's Visualizer 3D Studio Professional Edition, one tier above the Standard Edition that ships with the base Professional. The Control Unit, Telescopic Rod, case, Bluetooth headphones and chargers are identical on both editions, per OKM's own comparison table.

Six operating modes run this scanner, and two of them only run with hardware exclusive to this edition
3D Ground Scan visualizes underground artifacts and cavities in three dimensions and runs on both editions. Magnetometer localizes ferromagnetic objects, Pinpointer narrows a detected anomaly to its exact position, and Mineral Scan detects natural mineralization as a color-coded graph; all three run on both editions too. Live Scan and Tunnel Scan are Professional Plus exclusive, per OKM's own editions comparison. Live Scan needs the Live-Stream Sensor and shows what sits directly under the probe in real time as the operator walks. Tunnel Scan needs the Tunnel Sensor and looks for underground voids, tunnels and cavities, run either as a Parallel Mode scan matching 3D Ground Scan or as a Single Line scan saved to internal memory. OKM's manual is explicit: if you do not already own the Tunnel Sensor, one has to be obtained before Tunnel Scan can be used.
04
Four probes attach to the Telescopic Rod, and the two Plus-exclusive ones are heavier and longer
The Super Sensor is OKM's most sensitive probe, 950 mm (37.4 in) and about 1.0 kg (2.2 lb), used for 3D Ground Scan, Magnetometer, Pinpointer and Mineral Scan on both editions. The Telescopic Probe, a horizontal probe for wide areas, extends 820 to 1240 mm (32.3 to 48.8 in) at about 1.04 kg (2.29 lb), used for 3D Ground Scan and Magnetometer on both editions too. The Tunnel Sensor, Professional Plus exclusive, is a vertical probe at 500 mm (19.7 in) and about 0.76 kg (1.68 lb), built to find underground caves, tunnels and tombs. The Live-Stream Sensor, also Professional Plus exclusive, is a horizontal probe at 600 mm (23.6 in) and about 0.92 kg (2.03 lb), built to process a high volume of data and generate live underground images.
05
The Control Unit runs about 4 hours on a charge, and the Telescopic Rod a separate 5
The Control Unit weighs 2.34 kg (5.16 lb) and runs approximately 4 hours fully charged at 25°C (77°F); the Telescopic Rod adds 1.76 kg (3.88 lb) and runs separately, approximately 5 hours under the same condition. Both carry an IP40 safety rating, not waterproof, and both operate between -10°C and 50°C (14°F to 122°F). The Control Unit's 6.5-inch display runs 1024 by 768 pixels at 650 cd/m² brightness, driven by a QuadCore AMD processor at 2 GHz with 4 GB of RAM and an 8 GB Class 10 SD card for storage. The two units talk over WiFi 802.11n at up to 54 Mbps, line of sight, out to a maximum of 4 m (13.1 ft) between them.
06
OKM's manual gives a direct warning: never move a suspected fuse, mark the spot and call the police
The manual describes the ground in many former conflict areas as a potential hazard, and instructs the operator not to dig or hack at a signal. It flags a red or reddish soil color as a rust indicator, and treats curved or round objects, buttons, rings and anything resembling ammunition as a sign to stop: leave the object exactly where it is, do not touch it, and do not take it home, because rusted rocket, acid or ball fuses can be triggered by the slightest movement. If a relic like this turns up, mark the location and report the find to the police. The unit also carries a built-in anti-tampering module that destroys it if improperly opened, with no end-user-serviceable parts inside, and the manual limits charging to the approved chargers and batteries in the box rather than a mains supply directly.
07 FOR UNIVERSITIES, COLLEGES AND GOVERNMENT AGENCIES
My Surveying Direct ships this direct from OKM and takes purchase orders from universities, colleges and government agencies
OKM German Detectors makes the eXp 6000 Professional Plus, and My Surveying Direct ships every order direct from the manufacturer. Purchase orders are accepted from universities, colleges and government agencies. OKM's own product page does not publish a general warranty term for this model; a two-year figure appears on OKM's FAQ, but it is scoped explicitly to buyers who purchase directly from OKM GmbH in Altenburg, Germany, not through a US reseller. OKM's own two pages also disagree on how many chargers and travel adapters ship with this unit, one states one of each and its editions comparison states two, and whether the Android Smart Glasses ship as standard or as an optional add-on is not settled across OKM's own sources either. Call and we will confirm exactly what your order includes and the applicable warranty terms before you buy. Speak to us at +1 888 850 6533, Monday to Friday, 9 to 5 Mountain Time.

Safety and cautions (from the hardware manual)
| Danger of explosion during excavation | The manual states: "the last two world wars also made the ground in many places of the world a potentially explosive scrap heap... Do not start digging and hacking for an object wildly when you receive a signal." It instructs the operator to note the color of the ground (a red or reddish color indicates rust traces), to treat curved or round objects, buttons, rings, recognizable ammunition, bullets or shells as a sign of alarm, to leave any such object exactly where it is, not touch it and not take it home, because rusted rocket fuses, acid fuses and ball fuses can be triggered by the slightest movement and "moving such an object may cause those crystals to produce friction, leading to an explosion." If such a relic is found, the manual instructs the user to mark the location and report the find to the police |
| Possible health hazards | "If used properly this device normally does not pose any health hazards. According to current scientific knowledge, the high-frequency signals are not harmful to the human body on account of their low power" |
| Voltage | "Never use the 115/230 Volt mains supply." Use only the approved chargers, batteries and rechargeable batteries included in the scope of delivery |
| Surrounding area, magnetic fields | Avoid strong magnetic fields such as those from large electric motors or unshielded loudspeakers; the manual recommends staying outside 50 meters (150 ft) of this type of equipment. Metallic objects on the ground or worn on the person (cell phones, keys, jewelry, steel toe boots) can distort scan data and should be removed before scanning |
| Anti-tampering module | "The device has a built in anti-tampering module which will destroy the unit if it is improperly opened. There are no end user serviceable parts on the inside of the unit" |
| Data safety, causes of data errors | The manual lists four causes: the sender module's range has been exceeded, the device's or a probe's battery is too low, the unit is operating too close to another device that emits disturbances, or atmospheric conditions such as electrical storms or lightning |
| Care and use, hard DO NOTs | The manual lists explicit prohibitions: do not use the machine to clear bushes or pry rocks loose, do not drop it into water or use it in rain, do not leave it exposed to dew overnight, do not store it somewhere it can get extremely hot, do not leave it in a hot car trunk, do not spray lubricants, cleaners, solvents or other chemicals onto the electronics, and do not attempt to modify or repair the detector's electronics, which voids the warranty |
