The 641 reaches further than anything else GeoCue makes, and it is built in the United States. Either of those would sell it. Together they make it the obvious sensor for federal work that also has to perform.
Up to six returns, and 170 m of usable range
The 535 gets three returns at 120 m and that is a strong sensor. This gets up to six at 170 m. More returns means more chances to find ground through canopy, and the extra range means higher flight lines and fewer passes over the same ground.
Scanner precision is 3 mm or better and accuracy 4 mm or better, against 10 mm and 20 mm on the 515 and 535. The pulse rate is lower, up to 125 kHz, because this is a single beam scanner rather than a 32 channel one. It builds density from range and returns instead.
Why origin decides this one for some buyers
The 515 and 535 are made in Switzerland. For a commercial buyer that is irrelevant. For a federal agency, a defence prime or a university spending federal grant money it can end the conversation before the specification is read. The 641 is built in the United States and carries an NDAA compliant camera.
