What ships under this SKU is the Reach RS2+, not the older Reach RS2, and two spec differences prove it
The unit you receive is the Reach RS2+, Emlid's direct successor to the original Reach RS2. Emlid no longer sells the original. Its dedicated product page now redirects to a support-only page, and a request to Emlid's own store for that model returns a not-found error. Two hardware details confirm which unit this SKU actually ships. It carries a global LTE modem, the faster cellular data standard, in place of the original's 3.5G modem. It charges over USB-C at 5 V, 3 A, against the original's 5 V, 2 A. Only the shorthand in our page's web address still carries the older, unplussed name. The specification table below, and the receiver itself, are RS2+ throughout.

RTK accuracy is 7 mm plus 1 ppm horizontal, and every figure on this page carries its condition
RTK, real time kinematic positioning, corrects the receiver's raw signal against a base station as you work. In RTK mode this receiver holds 7 mm + 1 ppm horizontal accuracy and 14 mm + 1 ppm vertical. Ppm means the error grows a little further from base with every kilometer of distance. Static observation, left running over a fixed point, tightens to 4 mm + 0.5 ppm horizontal and 8 mm + 1 ppm vertical. PPK, post processed kinematic, corrects the same raw signal after the survey instead of live in the field, and lands at 5 mm + 0.5 ppm horizontal. Convergence, the time the receiver needs to lock a fix, runs around five seconds. The receiver updates at up to 10 Hz and tracks 184 channels across GPS, QZSS, GLONASS, BeiDou and Galileo. That spread means it is not locked to one constellation if any single one degrades.

The RS2+ connects five ways, and Emlid's own pages disagree on one of them
A global LTE modem carries correction data over cellular networks anywhere with coverage, backed by 2G and 3G fallback. Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n) and LoRa radio, a long range, low power radio band, cover the two connections that need no carrier at all. LoRa reaches up to 8 km between base and rover in a clear line of sight. Bluetooth pairs the receiver to a phone or tablet running Emlid Flow, and here the sources disagree. Emlid's own product and store pages state Bluetooth 4.0 with BR/EDR and LE. Emlid's own PDF datasheet for the same unit instead states 4.0/2.1 EDR, with no LE mentioned. We have not resolved that difference and neither has Emlid. NTRIP and RTCM3 carry corrections in from a network, and an RS-232 port plus USB-C round out the physical connections.

Battery life runs 22 hours logging or 16 hours as an LTE rover, and the RS2+ draws more charging current than the model it replaced
A 6400 mAh LiFePO4 battery powers the receiver, a chemistry Emlid rates for more than 2,000 charge cycles before capacity fades. On one charge it runs up to 22 hours logging, or 16 hours as an LTE rover pulling corrections over cellular. Charging draws 5 V at 3 A over USB-C, more current than the original RS2's 5 V, 2 A draw. Maximum power draw is 10 W, identical between the two models per Emlid's own documentation. An external power input from 6 to 40 V lets the receiver run from a vehicle or a larger field battery. Emlid Flow can be set to power the unit on and off automatically with that external source.

IP67 sealing and a shock absorbing shell carry this receiver through dust, drops and standing water
IP67 means the polycarbonate body, wrapped in a bonded elastomer coating, withstands full dust ingress and submersion to 1 meter. Emlid rates the operating range at -20 to +65 degrees Celsius, tested at both extremes. The receiver measures 126 x 126 x 142 mm and weighs 950 g. Emlid's own site states this footprint two ways. A shorter two-number version appears in one promotional spot, and the fuller three-number version sits in its formal specification table, which is what we use here.

A clear sky and distance from other electronics decide how well this receiver performs as a base
Emlid's own documentation calls for a clear view of the sky at least 30 degrees above the horizon when the receiver works as a base. No buildings, trees, vehicles or people should block the signal. Nearby electronics generate RF noise that can degrade reception, so Emlid recommends keeping other devices as far away as practical. Three ways to run corrections: a public NTRIP network, a Virtual Reference Station (VRS) service, or another Reach receiver used as your own base. The last option links over LoRa or NTRIP. Base to rover range tops out beyond 60 km in RTK and 100 km in PPK.

Emlid backs the Reach RS2+ with a one year warranty. The FAQ answer to that same question on Emlid's own store page briefly names a different receiver in the Reach line, evidently left over from a shared template. The one year term itself is not in question, only that one stray reference. Emlid's own comparison places the RS3 a step up from the RS2+ mainly on tilt compensation and a dual band radio.
