Topcon RL-200 1S Dual Grade Laser
W-9 and vendor pack with every quote
Shipped direct from the manufacturer
The RL-200 1S sets a single slope, -5% to +25%, across a 3,600 ft (1,100 m) working diameter, with a receiver bundled into every kit. The dual-slope model in this family is the RL-200 2S.
01
The RL-200 1S sets one slope at a time, -5% to +25%; the RL-200 2S is Topcon's dual-slope model in the same family
Topcon builds two lasers in the RL-200 family: the RL-200 1S, sold here, and the RL-200 2S. The 1S sets a single slope, automatically, anywhere from -5% up to +25%. The 2S adds a second axis, up to plus or minus 10% on one axis and the same -5% to +25% range on the other. Every figure on this page describes the 1S. Horizontal accuracy is plus or minus 7 arc seconds, close to plus or minus 3/64 inch at 100 feet by a dealer's own conversion. Topcon states the same figure for repeatability. The laser self-levels automatically across a range of plus or minus 5 degrees. An electronic shutter can mask the beam into up to three quadrants, so it does not interfere with a crew working nearby.
02
Working range runs to 3,600 ft (1,100 m) diameter with a receiver, and rotation speed is selectable
The RL-200 1S covers a working range of 3,600 ft (1,100 m) diameter once a laser receiver is in play, per Topcon's own brochure and catalog. That is a full circle around the instrument, not a radius out from it. The laser turns at 300, 600 or 900 rpm, selectable to match the job. A backlit graphic display shows current grade, masking status, rotation speed, remote channel, sensitivity and height-of-instrument alerts. An operator reads the laser's status at a glance.
03
It is a Class 3R laser, and the beam can injure an eye directly or on reflection
Topcon's current specification page for the RL-200 Series lists this laser as Class 3R. A Class 3R beam is visible and can cause eye injury from direct exposure or from a reflection. Do not stare into the beam or aim it at another person. Never view it through binoculars, a telescope, or any other optical instrument. No RL-200 operator's manual turned up in our search, so 3R rests on that one Topcon source. No other Topcon document checked for this listing states a class figure at all.
04
Every kit bundles a receiver into the price, LS-80X on two SKUs, LS-100D on the third
This laser is sold in three kits, and every one bundles a receiver into the price, confirmed against Topcon's own official parts list. Two of the three kits pair the laser with an LS-80X handheld receiver: one runs on alkaline dry-cell batteries, the other on a rechargeable Ni-MH pack. The third kit runs on the same rechargeable pack and pairs the laser with an LS-100D receiver instead. Both receivers show a readout on the front and the back, so a rod holder can read grade from either side. Topcon documents no functional difference between the two beyond the model and the photograph. The alkaline kit runs up to 100 hours; the rechargeable kits run up to 90.
05
No RC-400 remote ships with the RL-200 1S; that remote belongs to the RL-200 2S alone
Topcon's brochure, catalog and channel parts list all scope the RC-400 remote control to the RL-200 2S. It is not part of any RL-200 1S kit, including the three sold on this listing. On the 2S, the RC-400 displays grade, menu settings, operational status and battery life from up to 300 m (about 1,000 ft) away. The operator never has to walk back to the laser to check it. On the 1S, grade is set and read at the laser itself.

Body weight and the application list are not confirmed by Topcon, so call before you rely on them
A few figures on this listing are not corroborated anywhere in Topcon's own brochure, catalog, or current specification page. We are not printing them here as settled fact. Laser body weight is one: this listing states 7.5 lbs alkaline or 7.9 lbs rechargeable, and one dealer states 6.6 lbs for the same laser body. No Topcon document checked for this listing states a weight at all. Topcon publishes no Yes/No list of application suitability for this laser, in any source we can find, so treat any such table as unsourced. If either figure matters to your job, call us and we will find out directly rather than guess.
