Autel makes no NDAA or Blue UAS claim for this aircraft, and night reconnaissance is exactly where agencies buy

Autel publishes no NDAA compliance claim, no Blue UAS claim and no US federal procurement eligibility claim for this model. That absence holds across its product page, the brochure, the series user manual, the maintenance manual, the packing list, its EU Declaration of Conformity, and both FAQ pages. Autel Robotics Co., Ltd. of Shenzhen, China is named as the manufacturer on that Declaration. Autel states that on 6 January 2025 the US Department of Defense listed it among Chinese military enterprises, and Autel disputes the listing. The Federal Communications Commission's Covered List, in its version dated 14 August 2026, carries a category entry for uncrewed aircraft systems produced in a foreign country. Autel Robotics is not a named company entry there. The FCC statement Autel prints in the manual is a Part 15 radio interference declaration, and says nothing about who may buy the aircraft. Autel publishes two generations under this name, and the product codes are how you tell them apart

Autel's specification tables carry an EVO Max Series tab and an EVO Max Series V2 tab. This listing is the first: the EVO Max 4N at 1665 g with the ABX40 smart battery and the Fusion 4N gimbal. The EVO Max 4N V2 sits in the second tab at 1700 g, with the ABX41-D battery and the Fusion 4N V2 gimbal. Against this aircraft, the V2 has a 1/0.98 inch wide-angle camera at f/1.85 and a 1.69 inch night vision sensor. Its service ceiling is 4500 meters and its wheelbase 467 mm. Autel gives this aircraft a US UPC of 889520207478, and the V2 a US UPC of 889520221061. Check the code on the carton against those if the generation matters to your program.

The starlight camera is the reason to buy this aircraft, and Autel states what it does at night

The starlight vision camera is a 2.3 MP sensor rated to 0.0001 LUX, at f/1.4 and an 11.2 mm effective focal length. ISO runs from 100 to 440000 in both auto and night modes. It shoots stills and video at 1920 x 1200 and 30 fps, with 1 to 8x digital zoom. Autel states the camera is not restricted by lighting conditions or temperature differences, and that it allows observation through glass so features inside vehicles or buildings stay visible. Autel gives night detection of light sources such as cellphones or car lights at 5 km, in dark and open environments. Autel's own online store publishes the ISO range as 100 to 450,000 while its specification table gives 100 to 440000, so its figures do not agree.

Two more sensors and a rangefinder sit on the same gimbal, and thermal has limits Autel names

The wide-angle camera is a 1/1.28 inch 50 MP sensor at 23 mm equivalent and f/1.9, focusing from 0.5 meters, reaching ISO 32000 in night mode. The thermal camera is an uncooled VOx microbolometer at 640 x 512, across a 61 degree field at f/1.0. It measures from minus 20 to 150 degrees C in high gain and 0 to 550 degrees C in low gain. The laser rangefinder works at 905 nm from 5 to 1200 meters, accurate to 1 meter plus 0.15 percent of the distance to a vertical reflecting plane. Autel states that infrared cameras are limited by the temperature difference between a target and its surroundings. It adds that identifying targets at night with a thermal camera alone can be very difficult. That is the argument for the starlight sensor beside it.

Some aircraft versions ship with three of the four radars disabled, which matters most at night

Autel gives the aircraft a 60 GHz radar sensing 0.3 to 20 meters upward, 0.15 to 80 meters downward, and 0.3 to 50 meters forward and backward. A 24 GHz radar senses 0.8 to 12 meters downward. Visual sensing covers 0.5 to 31 meters forward, 0.5 to 25 meters backward, 0.5 to 26 meters sideways and 0.3 to 23 meters downward. Autel states that certain versions ship with the 24 GHz downward radar only. On those, the forward, backward and upward 60 GHz radars are disabled in the flight software at the factory, to comply with regional rules. Its user manual states the radar band is a hardware specification that software cannot adjust. Confirm the radar version for your region before you order a night aircraft.

42 minutes and 15 kilometers are Autel's figures, and the legal limits bind long before the aircraft does

Autel gives 42 minutes maximum flight time and 38 minutes hovering, with a maximum range of 25 km. Transmission is 15 km in FCC regions and 8 km in CE regions. Service ceiling is 4000 meters above sea level with the ABX40 battery, or 3000 meters with the ABX41. Autel states the aircraft may fly no higher than 120 meters under EU law and no higher than 400 feet under US law. The app allows a setting up to 800 meters. The aircraft is IP43 rated and runs from minus 20 to 50 degrees C without load, narrowing to 40 degrees C at full load. Autel states in the manual that this temperature range does not meet military-grade specification, which it gives as minus 55 to 125 degrees C.

Obstacle avoidance, and its night limits
Visual sensing Autel gives a visual sensing range of 0.5 to 31 meters forward, 0.5 to 25 meters backward, 0.5 to 26 meters sideways, 0.2 to 26 meters upward and 0.3 to 23 meters downward, with a 60 degree horizontal and 80 degree vertical field of view forward and backward.Autel's stated operating environment for the visual system is a surface with rich texture under lighting above 15 lux, which Autel describes as a normal indoor fluorescent lighting level, and for the downward sensor a diffuse surface with reflectivity above 20 percent.
Millimeter-wave radar Autel gives a 60 GHz radar sensing 0.3 to 20 meters upward, 0.15 to 80 meters downward and 0.3 to 50 meters forward and backward, and a 24 GHz radar sensing 0.8 to 12 meters downward.Autel states the 60 GHz system supports all-weather obstacle avoidance for glass, water, wires, buildings and trees in four directions, and that its range varies with how well an obstacle reflects electromagnetic waves and how large its surface is. Autel states the 24 GHz downward range varies with ground material, giving 12 meters over cement and under 6 meters over grass thicker than 3 cm.
The night limitation on some aircraft versions Autel states that to comply with regional regulations certain aircraft versions use a 24 GHz downward radar with the forward, backward and upward 60 GHz radars disabled in the flight software at the factory. Autel states that version supports visual obstacle avoidance only in good lighting and does not support millimeter-wave radar obstacle avoidance at night.This aircraft is sold for night work, so which radar version arrives matters more here than on a daylight platform. What Autel's manual says about the same limitation Autel's EVO Max Series user manual states the millimeter-wave radar frequency band is a hardware specification tied to the drone's internal components and cannot be adjusted by software, and that the radar hardware and sensing capabilities differ by market. Autel states that in countries and regions where only the 24 GHz band is permitted, such as China, the drone is equipped with a downward 24 GHz radar only and that radar is used solely to assist landing, and that where the 60 GHz band is permitted, such as the European Union and the United States, the drone is equipped with six-directional or four-directional 60 GHz radars and supports obstacle avoidance at night.Autel's specification table says the forward, backward and upward 60 GHz radars are fitted and switched off in software at the factory on a 24 GHz aircraft, and Autel's manual says the radar hardware itself differs by market and cannot be changed by software. What Autel claims for the perception system Autel states the EVO Max series combines binocular vision with millimeter-wave radar so that the onboard Autel Autonomy Engine perceives objects down to 0.5 inches, and that the aircraft can identify flight control interference and satellite positioning interference signals.
Battery, storage and warranty
Smart battery Autel's packing list gives the smart battery as the ABX40 or the ABX41 and states the actual model depends on the version purchased. Autel rates the ABX40 at 120 Wh with a weight of 520 g, and the ABX41 at 136.5 Wh and 530 g.Autel states that for flights above 3,000 meters in altitude the ABX40 smart battery should be used. The weight and service ceiling figures stated on this page are Autel's figures for the ABX40.
Hot swapping Hot swapping is supported.Autel's manual lists a known issue: hot swapping fails under certain conditions. Autel's temporary measure is to avoid hot swapping below -10 degrees C and to complete the swap within 8 seconds.

Propellers are a consumable item and are not covered.Autel's maintenance manual for this aircraft instead states a single 12 month schedule and a 3 month rugged case with no regional split, so Autel's two documents do not agree.
