FJD Trion™ P2 LiDAR Scanner

Purchased this to measure existing conditions for my projects. There’s a little bit of a learning curve, but MySurveyingDirect were really helpful with sharing tutorials as well as scheduling calls with the manufacturer to go through some of the technical features of the machine. It’s a great product and good value considering the cost of the competition. Recommend to any architect getting sick of measure-ups, but not looking to sell a kidney. There’s no software subscriptions required from FJD, but you will need to get Autodesk Recap to turn the files into a Revit friendly format and trim the point cloud.

Post-purchase support has also been top-notch, with prompt and knowledgeable assistance whenever needed. I'm planning to upgrade to the forestry module soon, as it offers more advanced tree analysis capabilities that will be valuable for my projects. Overall, I highly recommend the FJD Trion P1 to anyone in ecology or related fields who needs reliable and accurate vegetation structure analysis. Great SLAM scanner for handheld scanning applications. 1-2 cm accuracy, portable and versatile. Battery last just under 4 hours with 2 batteries. Scanning for 20 minutes will give you great results without drift or IMU issues. The software solution has excellent functionality and filters to expand further point cloud. Section, registration, georeferencing, drawing, export etc

This is a very impressive drone that even for a relatively inexperienced pilot like me was quick to get in the air and start doing orthophotography for mapping - which is my primary use. I appreciate that I don't need additional software to plan missions, and that I can download map areas and mission routes to the controller ahead of time when working in areas without cellular service
